Last night, Taylor Swift rocked a custom No. 87 jacket created by Kristin Juszczyk, wife of the 49ers’ All-Pro fullback Kyle Juszczyk.
Sometimes teams (or in this case, partners of different teams’ players) help each other and it’s a win-win.
Consider the Lions-Rams 2021 trade:
Rams acquired Matthew Stafford and won a Super Bowl.
Lions landed Jared Goff and, through additional trades:
WR Jameson Williams
RB Jamhyr Gibbs
TE Sam LaPorta
DE Joshua Pascal
S Ifeatu Melifonwu
DT Brodric Martin
Or rewind to the 2001 NFL Draft, where the San Diego Chargers and the Atlanta Falcons traded picks.
The Chargers, originally holding the first overall pick, traded their rights to the Falcons a day before the draft.
The Falcons used the pick to draft Virginia Tech quarterback, Michael Vick.
Meanwhile, the Chargers used their new 5th overall pick to draft LaDainian Tomlinson and later picked Drew Brees in the second round.
Drew went on to lead the Saints to a Super Bowl and became a symbol of hope and resilience for all of Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina.
Speaking of win-wins and Louisiana, the Louisiana Purchase can be seen as a win-win situation for both the United States and France.
For the United States: The Louisiana Purchase doubled the size of the country, reshaped its environmental and economic makeup, and provided a powerful impetus to westward expansion. The deal also helped President Thomas Jefferson win re-election in 1804 by a landslide.
For France: Napoleon Bonaparte, the French leader at the time, viewed the Louisiana Territory as a burden due to his focus on war in Europe. Selling the territory to the United States for $15 million provided him with much-needed funds.
The Louisiana Purchase would have cost $408 million in 2023 dollars: That’s around 42 cents per acre.
In a nod to history, a Reddit user posted his Great Grandfather, Frank Sinkwich’s rookie contract from 1943. Sinkwich was drafted 1st Overall out of Georgia and later won NFL MVP for the Lions in 1944.
He was also a Heisman Trophy winner, AP Athlete of the Year in 1942, and his number (21) is retired by the Georgia Bulldogs,.
He was paid $400 a game in addition to the $400 on a separate "league contract."
Today, that’s equivalent to about $154,000.

"They're in no rush to hire a general manager. They might even wait until after the draft to hire a general manager."
