Brian Davis attempted to purchase the Washington Commanders from Dan Snyder earlier this year.
Davis put in a mega-big for the Commanders, claiming to be a billionaire funded by “…white people... who are Jewish, Italian, and Sicilian."
One of the signatories on Davis’s bid was Tarciana C. Rodriguez, the administrator of the Estate of Severino Garcia Santa Romana. Let’s get to know this fella:
Another signatory was Donald Calhoun:
"Who is Donald Norvell Calhoun? Well, according to one lawsuit from July 2022, 'Donald Calhoun is a career con man who has swindled millions of dollars from people and businesses across the United States. Donald Calhoun's scams all seem to share a common characteristic. Donald Calhoun makes promises of financing to people and businesses that need money.'"
Since the Commanders are playing the Bears tonight, it’s fitting to mention another Donald Calhoun who’s associated with Chicago.
This Don Calhoun, back in ‘93, was called upon by a staff member to throw a 75-foot shot worth $1,000,000 during a timeout in the third quarter of a Bulls-Heat game. The staffer chose him because they saw he was wearing boots and didn’t want a fan wearing sneakers to scuff up the floor.
The contest was sponsored by Lettuce Entertain You, a restaurant chain. They had an insurance policy to cover the unlikely event that someone made the shot. The fine print in the insurance said that the contestant can’t have ever played college basketball and this guy had gotten in a couple games at Triton College.
The insurance never paid but the Bulls players pressured owner, Jerry Reinsdorf, to cover his payment (which Reinsdorf did.) Calhoun got $50,000 a year over the next 20 years.
The money didn’t change his life, but it did change the trajectory of his son’s life who graduated medical school and became a doctor. The money covered the tuition.
You can see the ref handing the ball back to him. He had it signed by all the bulls that night, except one. Michael Jordan had to leave right after the game. It took him six months, but he persisted and finally got MJ’s signature by leaving the ball at MJ’s restaurant in Chicago.
When his son graduated from medical school, Don gave him the ball as a graduation gift, to remind him where he came from, and what’s possible as long as you believe in yourself.

A reporter asked Cowboys QB Dak Prescott what the feeling was last season after playoff loss to 49ers.
“Baker is a DUDE and the players saw it right away. He took the OL to the Bahamas during camp after final cuts to golf. He’s spotted around town at dive bars with receivers, with Mike Evans, with Godwin. He’s that guy. He’s the man. And it’s not fake.”
Bucs GM Jason Licht
“Why would a lion concern himself with the opinion of a sheep? The person that’s commenting on my performance, what does he do? Flip hot dogs and hamburgers somewhere?”
“He’s a real intelligent person - and you don’t often see that from guys from Baylor.”
