The NFL usually doesn’t schedule games on Fridays. I had no idea it was because of a legal issue.
There was a law passed by Congress called the Sports Broadcasting Act. In 1966, this law was updated to state that professional football games could not be broadcast if a high school or college football game was taking place within 75 miles of the station airing the professional game.
This effectively stopped the NFL from scheduling games on Fridays in September and October.
The NFL has played only eight Friday games since 1978.
Amazon created the idea of having a game on "Black Friday" to coincide with its biggest shopping day of the year. Prime Video ended up paying $100 million to the NFL to have an annual game on "Black Friday.”
Per Forbes, Amazon will offer special deals throughout Friday’s game via commercial.
Since New York is the No. 1 retail market in the country, Amazon noted it would make sense to have a game involving one of the New York teams on a day that is all about shopping.
The Browns would’ve been a good pick too, since in the plumbing industry today is known as Brown Friday.
“We get a lot of stopped-up drains, so about 10 times as many as we normally get for drain calls, and a lot of it could be preventable,” said Clay Saliva, general manager of George’s Plumbing.
I couldn’t find too many example of plumbers making the NFL, but I did find one: Matt Leo.
By way of the NFL's International Player Pathway Program, Leo joined the Eagles six months shy of completing his plumbing apprenticeship in his hometown of Adelaide, Australia.
The Commanders could’ve used him on Sunday. After the game, neither team was able to shower. There was no running water at FedEx Field postgame, leaving both locker rooms completely dry.
Football stadium plumbing is not to be taken lightly. Football stadium plumbing codes are extremely strict.
For example, in a stadium of 60,000 people, there must be at least 3,600 lavatories throughout the entire stadium.
That’s why today, new stadiums test their plumbing system rigorously before opening to the public. Sometimes, they would even invite the general public to help them test their toilets.
In 1998, the M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore invited thousands of volunteers to flush at least 1,000 toilets at the same time to ensure that the plumbing system still worked. The test turned out to be a success.
For any Seattle readers, you might remember this commercial Marshawn Lynch did for a local plumber. Stop freakin’… Call Beacon.
Numbers with Bet Openly
8: Since Week 8 when Jalen Ramsey returned, the Dolphins defense is top-5 in points per game allowed, total yards per game allowed, opposing 3rd down percentage and interceptions per game.
21: Mahomes is currently 253/377 on the season so far. The Chiefs have had 26 drops on the season. That means that 21% of Mahomes' incompletions have been drops.
His current completion percentage is 67.1%. If every dropped ball had been caught, his completion percentage would be 74% which would be 4% better than any other starting QB (Brock Purdy at 70%) in the league.
If the Chiefs had the average amount of dropped balls (11) instead of the most (26), Mahomes completion percentage would be 71% for best in the league.
3.5: Cardinals rookie CB Garrett Williams allowed just one catch for five yards against the Texans on Sunday. He’s allowing only 3.5 yards per target in five games this season, with a passer rating against of 55.3.
70 [TRIVIA]: Who leads the league with the most games this season with a completion percentage of 70% or better?

“That’s bullshit. It’s a bunch of bullshit. I’m never late. Honestly. I’m one of the first ones in and one of the last ones out of the building. If I am late to any meetings or anything, it’s because I’m a grown man and I should be allowed to go to the bathroom. Especially if it’s in between meetings and I’m trying to (go to the bathroom) or if I’m trying to grab something from the training room to be healthier and prepare for practice. It’s a lot of bullshit.
Trent Brown sounded off on a report that he’s been late to team meetings
