The coldest game in NFL history belongs to the “Ice Bowl,” a game played between the Dallas Cowboys and Green Bay Packers way back in 1967. It was a crisp -13 degrees Fahrenheit, while the wind chill made it feel like -48 degrees.
The band was hospitalized with hypothermia, a ref had the whistle stuck to his lip, and one fan froze to death in the stands.
There have been 6 games in NFL history with a temperature of at least 100 degrees. In 2000, the Dallas Cowboys played back-to-back games at or above that temperature.
The game considered the hottest in NFL history was a Sept. 19, 1971, meeting between the hosting New Orleans Saints and Los Angeles Rams. Due to the heat radiating off the Astro turf at Tulane Stadium, temperature on the field was estimated to be 130.
This was the debut of the Saints' anticipated savior -- rookie quarterback Archie Manning.
In his 13-year career, Archie Manning had more seasons with less than 10 TD passes thrown (8) than seasons with 10 or more TD passes thrown (5).
The Saints haven’t drafted a first round QB since Archie Manning 1971, the longest drought in NFL history.
Despite throwing 5,738 less passes, and starting 126 less times, Archie Manning has been sacked 93 more times than his son, Peyton Manning.
Archie Manning was basically the Matt Stafford of his era. He put up a ton of stats, could sling the ball as well as anyone in the league, but for a bunch of reasons, his teams never really won.
During a tough game, Archie Manning was booed by the New Orleans crowd and his wife became upset, only to turn around and see 5-year-old Peyton Manning booing his dad as well.
